Barbie Celebration – FAIL

Good old Barbie. She’s been the doll with the most for years now. So many years in fact that she is celebrating 120 dolly careers in that time, but who’s counting eh?

The sign could be worse though. At least it isn’t on a toy shelf frequented by kids….d’oh!

Another piece of promotional work goes bad

120 careers and what Barbie?

Recession officially over – McDonalds say so!

We don’t need politicians and over paid financial analysts to let us know when the world is back on an even keel. Instead, I rely on the economic barometer that is McDonalds.

They have launched a Prosperity Burger in Asia to celebrate the good financial times that have returned. Twice the meat apparently as there is no better way to show your disposable wealth than by tucking into a large burger. Now that the UK is out of recession, (well, apparently we are) when can we expect our meaty celebration of happy days ahead?

Merry Christmas everyone

Well as the Christmas period is well and truly upon us, I’d just like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2010.

Google – world domination continues

Google aren’t satisfied with just taking over the digital world. Now they are getting into the lucrative loo roll market. Sneaky, very sneaky.

Either that or this Vietnamese bog roll just shares the same name….

Google branded toilet roll?

Apologies to those with Anatidaephobia…

When you have a fear that you are being watched by ducks and you are looking for a bit of online support, what is the worst that can happen eh? (Thanks to Failblog for this)

Where shall we go for dinner?

With so many choices for a meal out these days, it is hard to choose where to go, especially if you fancy something different.

Sometimes an advert pops up with a deal at just the right time. I mean who wouldn’t consider a free meal for two? Well, maybe not when it is a contextual ad offer that is next to some less than stellar news….

Finally – Some must see TV!

I have a sneaking admiration for Steven Seagal and his Under Siege films. Former Navy SEAL and now chef kicks the backsides of a number of well organised bad guys to save us all.

Now it appears he has been stopping bad guys for 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Louisiana. The A&E television network in the US has picked up on this and has followed him for a new documentary series – Steven Seagal: Lawman.

Logic says it should be awful, but for some reason it appears to be must see TV for me. Time to ask friends in the States to record this for me.

Here’s a quick trailer to enjoy for now.

When good ads go bad – Part 3

Contextual advertising is the culprit again here, or perhaps just plain old coincidental bad luck. Either way, when good ads go bad, they go REALLY bad.

Pen Lets You Draw With Any Color You See – Geekologie

Pen Lets You Draw With Any Color You See – Geekologie.

When I was a lad, we were considered a Flash Harry if we had one of those Bic 4 colour pens.

Technology has moved on a bit and this colour picker pen scans a colour and allows you to replicate it to write with.  It looks like a really interesting concept.

Just because an ad is controversial, it doesn’t make it good

The advertising industry often likes to create a bit of controversy to generate disproportionate coverage and get people talking. However some times you see an advert that crosses the line and goes that bit too far.

This ad from Belgium is an example of one that crosses the line in my opinion. What do you think?
